The Washington DC event began on Sunday, December 10, 2017 with a welcome party at Squash On Fire, a public squash club with indoor and outdoor private event space. This provided attendees with a chance to get to know each other prior to the workshop while sampling specialty cocktails and light bites from the in-house catering department before touring the multi-level venue.
The Whittemore House, a historic mansion in the heart of Washington's Dupont Circle, hosted the two-day workshop on December 11 and 12 in one of the AV-equipped private conference rooms on the second floor. The in-house catering department provided a buffet breakfast and lunch both days. Event sponsors ILEA DC and NACE DC had representatives present on the topics of "How To Build Strong (and Profitable) Planner-Vendor Relationships" and "The Dos and Don'ts of Event Catering," respectively. André Wells of Events by André Wells served as the featured guest speaker with a presentation on "Designing Gorgeous Events."
